Crafty day trips-Berkeley here we come!!

No more 90 degree weather so off we went to the Bay area with Berkeley our destination. Joan and I met up with Joan's sister Marsha a fellow crafter. The goal was to find "Castle in the Air" shop, no problem with the help of our google map we went right to it.

Fairy house, hollow out log with wool roving, silk flowers, and miniatures

Wonderful wonderful, put this spot on your to do list. www.castleintheair.biz

John staff & instructor, in front of just some of the German Dresden, he went to the attic and came down with more boxes of goodies

Just inside the door you take a trip into fantasy world through many different diorama's Fairies, Gnomes, Santa etc. There are the wonderful masks (they have classes) plus many other great items. Miniatures, crepe paper, ribbons, sealing wax, papers, wool roving, prints all to be used for different crafting projects. My greatest find was a huge selection of German Dresden trims, more that I ever found on line.

 "Castles in the Air"

We all left with a shopping bag full of goodies.

Ready for the 4th of July, Rocket Man is made from
items from the store.

Joan and Masha found some can't live without items

Next was the garden shop down the street (lots of different little cute shops) that was a favorite for Joan, she loves checking out all the goodies. We came away with tons of ideas but no packages.

Lunch was up next, one of our favorite things to do. Bettys' is to go shop for some good food.

 Urban Ore Ecopark Recycling Center.

We headed to the cars to take a short trip to Urban Ore, a Berkeley recycling center, we never leave this place without filling the car. And once again we found more treasures. All with the thoughts of crafting new and different items for our up coming shows.

Need a Flying Pig, about 7 feet long.

Sample of glassware, what cute table set.

We each had a shopping cart and passed each other up and down the many aisles. There is a little bit of everything there, salt and pepper shakers, dishes, building parts, screws, wire, boards, doors, sinks, carpet, paper, ink pens, wheel barrow, tiles you name it, it might be there.

Back lot - full of windows, garden items, fencing, bricks,
tubs, sinks, etc. etc.

We said our good byes and headed to the freeway for a speedy trip home. all during the ride Joan and I talked over more ideas for the upcoming shows, inspiring each other on to more ideas.

Next outing will be up the highway to Healdsburg

Send me some pics and info of your crafty day trips that we can share.
